Goodbye Conceri Games9/5/2019 As of today, Conceri Games has been dissolved and will not be coming back from the grave.
Why is that? Well, here are a few reasons Conceri is being purged: 1). Having to explain how to pronounce Conceri and what it means is really awkward. The name itself was a bilingual portmanteau of Concentrate and Eri, meaning "Difference" in Finnish. This was unnecessarily pretentious and I never really addressed fixing it for ages, and now that all of the promotional content is just coated in it I decided it wasn't worth trying to recover. 2). The logo is sorta rough. It was haphazardly thrown together one day and didn't have enough thought put into it to make it count, even if it looked alright. The difficulty I'm having with developing a new logo and brand is partly why I won't be reforming into a new team at the moment and will be going solo for a bit. 3). The team served no purpose. We only had three members, and two of them didn't contribute towards any of the released team projects/titles. This was mostly because their talents were irrelevant to the types of games being made. Collaborations will still be possible, but they won't be under a team label like they were in the past. Of course, it's not like friendships are going to be thrown away because the team is dissolving, it's just a "professional" separation. 4). Being a "team" became a part of my personal friendship. With most companies/teams/groups you're meant to try and separate your work from your personal life, and unfortunately Conceri became a weird hybrid that just wasn't meant to exist. It felt like there was an obligation to include people or else it would seem like I was neglecting my friends, and while lately I've broken that self imposed stigma a bit (working on most late 2018/2019 projects solo), it's better to officially finish it off. Overall I don't really care that much that Conceri is being dissolved. It's not going to stop me from making my projects, it's not going to destroy my friendships and it's definitely not going to affect my workflow going forward. When I get a new brand we'll see what happens then. See yaaaaaa
